I really like this idea of refraction and pieces built together to make a new abstract form. I think its relevant to the work in the way that a lot of these gentleman's magazines and clubs are very private, with the fronts of shops that sell magazines and the clubs themselves being covered over and censored... Most of the time it is a secretive act when someone takes a trip inside one of these places. This also comes back to the idea of me making up a person who narrates the newspaper, and how they are built up with pieces of information taken from various sources. I like the fact that the images that I'm using are vintage photos of strippers, lingerie models or adult stars, which have not be airbrushed or retouched. Then using this method of refraction to make the image into something else, which is abstract and contemporary.
