I have thought long and hard about the format of my thesis, thinking about what size its going to be, what sort of binding am i going to use, how many pages am i going to have in it, and so on. I have however decided to use a paper size of roughly 21cm x 25cm possibly a little less than 21cm on the width, because i need... to get crop marks and bleeds etc on to the page and through the printers. I have decided upon this because i want to keep the format of a book/magazine depending on what binding i use, but dip away from the conventional book sizes, and thought a square format would suit my needs well. Within the contents of the book i am going to keep things to a tight grid, with two at most three typefaces, so that the hierarchy of the text is understandable, shall post some initial designs soon.
