THE NARRATIVE

PhotobucketTo go with the series of images I have made for the MGM work I am going to write some short stories/things that a gentleman should. I basically want to highlight the fact that the things a gentleman was expected to do years ago and what in reality a gentleman is perceived to do now is completely different, these guides to... being a gentleman are dated and obsolete, surely a gentleman is up to date with the world and knows how to conduct himself in the world that we live, without stunted views or opinions.

So for each of these people in the images I am going to write a short extract that contradicts some of the rules that are set out in the various gentleman guides that are available on the market at the moment.

For example for one of the rules that are within the book, How to Be a Gentleman: A Timely Guide to Timeless Manners By John Bridges is as follows,

'IF A GENTLEMAN HAS A COLD, AND ESPECIALLY IF HE IS RUNNING A FEVER, HE DECLINES ALL SOCIAL INVITATIONS. IF POSSIBLE HE EVEN STAYS AWAY FROM THE OFFICE.'

Now within the image above is Mr Obama, so if i was to relate this rule to him id write something like this below within the newspaper,

'PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES BARACK OBAMA HAS A BAD BOUT OF THE SNIFFLES WHICH MEANS FOR THE LAST WEEK AMERICA HAS GONE INTO MELT DOWN AS HE IS NOT ATTENDING THE OFFICE IN A BID TO GET BETTER.'

Now that rule is not something that would work in the modern world, so basically I am questioning weather the term gentleman still exsists in the modern times we live in.

The four modern gentleman within the image are,

OZWALD BOATENG
BARACK OBAMA
DAVID BECKHAM
PRINCE CHARLES
