I was looking at an old printing methods book today, and saw that the stamp which shows how long you have the book out for was an old 'central school of arts' stamp, and was dated 23rd November 1948. I find it amazing how long it has been there for and how many people must have looked at it over the years... The stamp almost became more of the design of the book than anything else. I also really like the formal design of it, with the function over form.I then saw another stamp on a crate of wood in our flat, which was also equally interesting, I'm not sure what it stands for but it must carry some form of information that is useful to someone. Anyhow, it got me thinking more about stamps and how they can be applied to a mix of different things, and still look good but still go un-noticed sometimes.
