ALEX FARRAR - THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SIGNATURE

PhotobucketI have been a fan of the artist Alex Farrar for a while now. His work is very simple, yet really intriguing. He uses a lot of legal wording and whatnot within his work, making his pieces seem more important than they maybe are, which again is sealed with signatures and whatnot... The particular piece that interested me was his work that is untitled. It is basically a set of 25 prints, that feature only his name and his signature, this is then framed in a white frame. It is a stupidly simple piece yet there is something about it that is brilliant. I wonder if it did not have his signature on it would it be as good and would it be classified as 'art'? I think this is another great example of someone using a simple signature to propel something into the art world, and this is the idea that im trying to get across with this work too. I would love to know how much he sold them all for.
